Aug. 11th, 2012 09:42 amPV for the upcoming Toaru Majutsu no Index movie is out! Accelerator has a brief cameo in the PV, which I wasn't expecting since the voice cast announcements on MAL hadn't listed him/Okamoto on the roster. YAAAAAY I will have new canon at the end of February.
This movie is an all-new story not found in the novels or anywhere else. It appears to take place sometime during or after Index season 2. Definitely after volume 8 of the novels or episode 7 of S2.
Oh. Right. NT5 (volume 5 of the New Testament numbering of the novels) is scheduled for an October release. It revolves around Touma's return to Academy City after shit went down in Baggage City for the Natural Selector tournament. As such, there is a chance a good number of Science Side characters will show up. I have my hopes up that Baka-Tsuki will translate it in record time.

A Thing That Should Be Noted

Apparently the official translation for Accelerator's ability is "vector transformation," whereby we are talking the mathematical definition of transformation. The primary translator for the Index/Railgun novels has confirmed it and notes that s/he had initially missed that definition. I am kind of dumb when it comes to math more advanced than pre-calc, I have to admit, which is why I pretty much just went with the translations of 向き変換 that Baka-Tsuki provided and wiki'ed anything else important.
Anyway, my real reason for bringing this up is a minor retcon. Accelerator has to be some sort of math genius in order to properly understand and use his ability, and he did spend several years constantly training with and honing said ability; therefore in Camp he prooooobably should have been using the term "vector transformation" from the beginning. :Da So! If he has ever talked to your character about his ability in a thread and called it something like "vector change" or "vector manipulation," that's fine for your character to remember him saying, but from now on he'll be using "vector transformation" most of the time. I say "most" because honestly, I think maybe only a small percentage of the characters or the players behind them actually understand the details of his ability, which means that dumbing things down is not only not bad, but potentially necessary. :Db So he might end up using the other terms in a more colloquial fashion, especially if a character goes "buzzuh?" at him or whatever. Derp.

They are releasing two episodes every week for the time being. I have heard from an unverified source that the DVDs will come out later this year. About fucking time. I've wanted this on DVD for 2 1/2 years.
If you ever wanted to watch this series, now you can legally.
On top of that, the Railgun manga is currently available in English as A Certain Scientific Railgun. Volume 4 should be coming out in a week or two, which marks Accelerator's official debut in the legal US market. Unless episode 10 comes out on FUNi's site first. Ah well. He doesn't have many scenes in that episode. Most of his real debut is in episodes 13-14.
Aside from that, I leave you with this little ( gem of hilarity. )
